Friends In Service Helping is a local agency started by the churches of Elko to serve the poor. HORIZON HOSPICE With only one paid staff member, this is a full service hospice organization with over a hundred volunteers. ELKO RELIGIOUS LEADERS ASSOCIATION Faith Lutheran Church, Elko, has historically led its conference in per capita benevolence to the synod at 10% of general receipts. GUYANA MISSION In July of 2001, a member of Faith Lutheran, Elko, Richard L. Young, M.D. was ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament and commissioned, by the Department of Global Mission, missionary to Guyana, S.A. and Medical Director to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana. Faith, Elko, gives regular financial support to this mission. HOSPITAL CHAPLAINCY E.R.L.A. Hospital Committee which works with the NORTHEASTERN NEVADA REGIONAL HOSPITAL to establish guidelines for the hospital chaplaincy program. Community in Schools |
